Abstract 

 Ancient literatures about Chinese medicine are not only historical records, but they are also important for supporting today’s clinical practice and research. Simple retrieval and inquiry services are no longer satisfactory. Based on ancient Chinese medicine books, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences has introduced a knowledge management service, allowing a range of functions such as knowledge processing, semantic annotation, knowledge organization and knowledge mining. Doctor Biography Knowledge Base (DBKB) gathers biographical materials of ancient Chinese doctors and allows various types of data analysis, including statistical analysis, social network analysis, temporal and spatial analysis.
