The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals. It falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, which usually corresponds to September or October in the Gregorian calendar. This festival is a time for family reunions and a celebration of the harvest.

Legend has it that the Moon Goddess Chang'e resides on the moon. The story goes that in ancient times, there were ten suns in the sky, scorching the earth and causing great suffering. Hou Yi, a skilled archer, shot down nine of the suns, saving humanity from disaster. As a reward, he was given an elixir of immortality. However, he did not want to become immortal without his beloved wife, Chang'e. So, he hid the elixir at home and told Chang'e not to touch it.
