No Lust, No Fear

Commentary: No lust, no fear
Our strongest desire is nothing more than loving oneself. Therefore we will endlessly seek to modify ourselves and pursue things that we may not actually need. Some are afraid of not getting, and some are afraid of losing. Because of the excessive expansion of our desires, we may end up in discontentment, worry, and even fear. Secular people live in deficiency and anxiety because what they pursue is ownership, but what we can own can be infinite. Monastics live with comfort and freedom because what they pursue is abstention, which has a bottom limit. The Heart Sutra tells us that the five skandhas are empty. When we forgo the attachment to Self, worry and fear will disappear naturally.
