第23章 妻子甚獄
Family Tie More Confining Than Prison
牢獄有散釋之期。妻子無遠離之念。
There is an occasion for the prisoner to be released, but householders entertain no desire to be relieved from the ties of family.
情愛於色。豈憚驅馳。
When a man's passion is aroused nothing prevents him from ruining himself.
雖有虎口之患。心存甘伏。
Even into the maws of a tiger will he jump.
投泥自溺。故曰凡夫。
Those who are thus drowned in the filth of passion are called the ignorant.
透得此門。出塵羅漢。
Those who are able to overcome it are saintly Arhats."

Commentary: Family tie more confining than prison (1)
The scriptures compare wife and children to a prison, and this should be what the Buddha had said to bhiksus. Similarly, the husband also serves like a prison to a woman. Let’s get some insight from these pop songs to understand how the desire of love between men and women ties up people together:
经文中把妻儿比喻为牢狱，这应该是佛对比丘说的话。对女性而言，丈夫也好比牢狱一样。男女间的爱欲是如何纠缠一起，我们且看时下一些流行歌曲都在唱什么：
没有你我应当如何活下去
How am I supposed to carry on
我应当如何继续下去
When all that I've been livin’ for is gone
我赖以为生的都已消逝
I didn't come here for cryin’
我并非到此哭泣
Didn't come here to breakdown
不为此崩溃
It's just a dream of mine is coming to an end”
只是我的美梦已经终结
“I can't live, If living is without you
若生活中没有你，我将活不下去
I can't live, I can't give anymore
我不能活了，再也不能付出”
“Love can touch us one time
我们一次爱的接触
And last for a lifetime
将会延续一生
And never let go till we're gone
永不放手直至我们消逝
……
Near far
无论远近
Wherever you are
不管你在哪里
I believe
我相信
That the heart does go on
我心相续”
Pity that love is deep but predestined relationship is weak
“情深缘浅不得意
While we cherish each other
你我也知道去珍惜
We need to wait until the next life
只好等在来生里
To begin our story again”
再踏上彼此故事的开始
“这一次我执着面对 任性地沉醉
I don’t care whether it’s right or wrong
我并不在乎 这是错还是对
I’m so desperate even if deeply trapped
就算是深陷 我不顾一切
Even if it’s my obstinacy I have no regret”
就算是执迷~也执迷不悔
All of these are calling for eternal love without which one can’t survive, etc. Love with tenacity seemingly sounds beautiful. However, a person’s karma even prevents one from leaving samsara, not to speak of the karma of two or even all of our past companions bundling together. You will get what I mean if you have played a three-legged game before. Therefore it is a Buddhist saying that “One will not be born in the Saha World if one’s sentiment is not strong; One will not fall into samsara if one’s love is not deep.”
这些讲的都是什么生生世世，活不下去之类话。固执的爱情听起来好像很美好，但我们自己的业力都让我们无法出离轮回了，更何况两个人，甚至生生世世的眷侣捆绑在一起呢大家玩过二人三足的话就明白了。所以佛门有两句话：“情不重不生娑婆, 爱不深不堕轮回。”
