有行无解无证下下人
The one who practices Buddhism without understanding its doctrines or getting any enlightenment is the most inferior
这种人注重修行，但是既不通佛理，更没有证悟。社会上这种人很多，他们或者修禅定，或者一味念佛，但是对佛法的真正义理或者全然不知，或者知之甚少，还美其名曰“一门深入”。There is one kind of Buddhist practitioners who focuses only on practicing without understanding the doctrines or getting any enlightenment. The number of such people in society is not small. They may either practice chan or chant Buddha’s name only, but they know nothing or little about the authentic doctrines of Buddhism. They even boast as “going in-depth into one approach”. 这种人大多数见地上有问题，如果没有正知正见明眼善知识的指引引导，很容易被邪说迷惑，越修行烦恼越多。原因是其无解无证，不懂得修行的目的是祛烦恼、开智慧，我执、法执都很重，很少在心地上下功夫，属于盲修瞎练的那种人。所以，四祖道信大师称其为下下人。Most of them lack clear insight. They are easily perplexed by heresies, and because of that they have more afflictions as they practice without the guidance of knowledgeable teachers who possess right views. The reason of their going astray is that they do not learn authentic doctrines or have any enlightenment, thus they do not understand the goal of practicing is to eliminate afflictions and to gain enlightenment. Instead, they attach too much to the self and dharma and rarely focus on solving issues of the mind.
