The Lotus Sutra Chapter IV Willing Acceptance

Just as the impoverished son

Who, after approaching his father,

Learned of various things

Yet did not want them,

如彼窮子、得近其父，雖知諸物，心不希取。

好像那位窮子，雖然能夠接近他的父親，并由此知道各種财物，但其心中并不慕求。

So, although we explained the treasure house

Of the teaching of the buddhas,

We never aspired to it.

我等雖說，佛法寶藏，自無志願，亦復如是。

我們雖然在講說佛法寶藏，但我們本身并不志願追求這種寶藏，這與那位窮子一樣的。
